The objectives of the society are to promote and study the Library and Information Science Profession in India and to collaborate with National and International agencies for promotion of library and information science profession. The society also aims at fostering strong linkages between Libraries and Information Centers and promoting close ties with other professional bodies engaged with collection, processing and dissemination of information.
