Bylaws
The Association’s general bylaws govern all aspects of the Association’s operations from categories of membership to election procedures to financial management.

History
The Alberta Teachers’ Alliance was created in 1918. The passage of the Teaching Profession Act in 1936 changed the name of the Alliance to the Alberta Teachers’ Association.

Objects and Mission Statement
The Association is the professional organization of teachers in Alberta. Its objectives are set out in the Teaching Profession Act.

Provincial Executive Council
Provincial Executive Council, which transacts the business of the Association between annual general meetings, consists of 19 elected officials plus the Association’s executive secretary. Contact information for each member is provided.

Former Presidents
The Association’s first president was George D Misener, who served from 1917 to 1919. Jason Schilling, the current president, was elected in 2019.
