I regret to inform you that the 2020 VRPS Annual Conference will not take place in Norfolk this fall. The City of Norfolk is facing a significant budget dilemma as a result of the pandemic. Due to budget shortages, the City of Norfolk’s Recreation, Parks, and Open Space Department will be unable to sponsor the conference. Norfolk has always put on a fantastic conference, and we hope they will be able to do it again in the not-too-distant future. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the conference committee and all of the dedicated VRPS professionals who make me happy to be a member of this society. Although we will not hold a typical annual conference in Norfolk, we have formed a task group to investigate methods to provide education and networking opportunities for our members and sponsors during the same dates. A variety of options are being investigated, ranging from virtual learning to hybrid scenarios.
