The Federal Association of Materials Management, Purchasing, and Logistics eV (BME) is a trade association for buyers, supply chain managers, and logisticians in Germany and continental Europe. It was founded in 1954. We see ourselves as a network partner for all industries and sectors, such as manufacturing, trade, government, and finance. Our objectives include the transfer of knowledge through continuous exchange of experience, the training and continuing education of qualified personnel, and scientific research into new methods, processes, and techniques. The BME also aids in the development of new markets and the shaping of economic processes and global trends. The BME has a 60-year history, during which time its membership has grown from the individual to the large corporation, from around 9,750 members (as of December 31, 2019). The annual volume of goods and services purchased by members is estimated to be around EUR 1.25 trillion. More than a third of Germany's GDP is represented by this figure. 38 regions form a network and meet 400 times a year for expert lectures, discussions, and company visits. The BME makes future-oriented and practice-oriented concepts available to its members and the general public through more than 20 specialist groups.
