The term transformation refers to a significant shift in society. With the global human-ecological crisis, such a shift has become critical, as crossing planetary boundaries permanently jeopardises human survival and social justice. The current pandemic highlights the acute fragility of existing structures, which continues to jeopardise the preservation of a healthy biosphere. However, how do transformations and space interact? What role can spatial approaches play in better understanding transformations and resilience, as well as ensuring their long-term viability? What impact does this have on space science?
