The American Historical Association was founded in 1884 in Washington, D.C., to promote historical studies and the collection and preservation of historical documents. The American Historical Association (AHA) develops principles for good teaching and history textbooks, as well as historians working in the United States. Its members include K-12 educators, university graduate students, museum curators, historical organisations, libraries, and archives, as well as government and business officials. As the national advocacy office, the AHA works with over a hundred affiliated societies to serve over 14000 history professionals, and its work is governed by the AHA Constitution and bylaws. In proficient behaviour research and teaching, the Association aids in the development of high standards for proficient behaviour and fineness.
