The American Baseball Coaches Association is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1945 on the initiative of a group of baseball coaches with the goal of promoting the game at the collegiate level. ABCA is the organization's acronym. Coach Eppy Barnes and Joe Bedenk came up with the idea of forming such an organisation when they realised that college baseball lacked proper guidance and direction. Eppy Barnes was also the ABCA's first President. Jack Kaiser is the organization's current Chairperson. The organization's original name was American Association of College Baseball Coaches, but it was changed to ABCA in 1981. The organisation hosted the American Baseball Coaches Association Show and Convention in Anaheim, California in January 2012, and it was a huge success.
